A 1959 190 SL Roadster in right hand drive, with just 18,000 miles on its odometer, this example has only had three owners in the sixty-six years since it left the Mercedes-Benz factory in Germany. Restored in 1980 before being stored for many years, the current owner, since 2002, has enjoyed driving and owning it, but feels the time is right for somebody else to do so. The 300 SL Roadster’s understudy is no less glamorous to look at, and enjoyable to drive, these beautiful SLs now sought-after collectables, especially in the condition this car presents in.

Having benefitted from a restoration back in 1980, and lovingly cared for since, this 190 SL is in lovely condition throughout. It drives as well as it looks, too, and the interior shows little sign of use. It’s benefitted from not just that restoration earlier in its life, but careful storage for long periods of time, all of which mean this 190 SL is among the finest examples currently available.

Lots of old brown envelopes stuffed with everything including old MOTs, the V5, the odd tax disc and plenty of receipts outlining its careful ownership. The work has been done to a very high standard throughout. Hand written correspondence outlining the car’s purchase to the current owner in 2002 is a charming insight into the car’s previous ownership, with the seller hinting at a celebrity link to the car – we’ve not ascertained who or what that may be here, but some SL sleuthing by its next owner might be in order. There’s some handy, very detailed manuals among the paperwork, too, again pointing to its meticulous care from its three owners.

SL 190s are, rightly, considered very desirable, useable, and glamourous classics that drive well and look fantastic. More so when they’re in the condition this example is in, with this car ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.
