1967 Mercedes-Benz 250SL W113

The 250SL, the rarest of Pagodas. Just 5,000 were produced over 14 months before the introduction of the 280SL in 1968. Of those 5,000 cars, it is believed that just 10% were of right-hand drive configuration. The rarest of the rare is what we have here, then.

This particular 250SL Automatic, finished in the striking combination of Silver Grey Metallic over Red Leather interior has been known to SLSHOP for quite some time, having previously belonged to our founder, Sam Bailey.

Sold by ourselves to the current owner in 2020, we’re delighted to say that it returns to us for sale in the same condition in which it left us – immaculate. Having covered almost 2,000 miles in that time, the most recent keeper has done a marvellous job of maintaining the cars pristine appearance, as well as its excellent mechanical condition. It’s exactly as you’d expect for a car that was formerly part of the SLSHOP fleet.

The near-perfect condition of the car is largely down to the care and attention lavished on it in 2016/17 by our expert technicians with this major overhaul totalling more than £30,000. There are invoices going back as far as 1985 showing that previous custodians of this 250SL were similarly generous towards it, with a restoration in 1991 also evident from the history file. Additionally, there are MOT certificates from 2000 through to the most recent test in 2022 which show incremental mileage up to today’s displayed figure of 88,775. The five-digit odometer on most Pagoda’s has been up to 99,999 and back around to zero – not so here.

It’s rare to find a 250SL, let alone in right-hand drive. It’s rare to find a Pagoda that hasn’t been around the clock at least once. It’s rare to see one in Silver Grey Metallic with Red Leather, and it’s extremely rare to see one of such high quality that it used to form part of the SLSHOP fleet. Put all that together and this is an opportunity that simply doesn’t come around often, grab that opportunity before someone else does.
