1986 Mercedes R107 300SL

First registered 12 September 1986, complete with matching hardtop and black soft top, this Signal Red 300SL interior was retrimmed in black Connolly leather under instruction of the first owner.  With rear seats, electric windows and air conditioning this beautiful car has its original alloy wheels, Blaupunkt radio/cassette player, tool & tool roll, service & handbooks along with a comprehensive service history.

I believe this car overall to be in very good condition.  With a recorded mileage of 69,864 the car passed its MoT on 8 September 2022 without a single advisory, was serviced and had work highlighted in the SL Shop report carried out to rectify all oil leaks and reposition the fuel hose.  All aspects of paintwork, chrome, wheels, trim, soft top are in top condition.   It is a real head turner on the road and drives superbly, always bringing a smile to this owner’s face.  I believe the next owner can look forward to it being admired wherever classic Mercedes cars are gathered.   If my car appeals to you please contact Nick Bird on 07711155510.

This car was collected personally from the factory in Sindelfingen by its first owner. It was driven to Stratton of Wilmslow where the factory interior was removed and retrimmed by Stratton craftsmen with lashings of hand-crafted Connolly leather.  Spending its early life around Staffordshire and Cheshire, where it was serviced by Mercedes-Benz dealers the car moved to Greece in 1990.  Here it was serviced by Greek Mercedes-Benz dealers, until this point it seen regular use and had covered around 50,000 miles.  Returning to the UK in 1991 it spent some time in controlled storage.  Between 1991 and 2007 the car only covered 11,000 miles but was serviced four times, once by  Mercedes-Benz dealers, once by an independent Mercedes specialist and twice by non-franchised garages. In 2010 the car was sold by Cheshire Classic Benz (CCB) to the owner prior to me who had the car serviced by their Mercedes specialist.  I took ownership on 16 April 2013, purchasing the car through CCB after it had done around 63,000 miles. Whilst I have owned the car it has been dry garaged throughout and has been SORN each winter, for which I have records. The car has been serviced annually by an independent Mercedes specialist who, when working for the local Mercedes-Benz dealer, used to conduct pre-delivery inspections on R107 SLs.  The mileage now is 69,852, an indication of my reason for sale; the car is not getting the use it deserves.  I have a file of invoices, services and MoTs available to view.
