1987 Mercedes Benz R107 300SL with Beige Check

A beautiful 300SL that’s well known to SL Shop with some choice options, in a great colour combination. It appeared on the cover of Classic Cars Magazine in January 2020 as part of their ‘Weekend Warriors’ feature.

Condition Synopsis:

The Mercedes-Benz R107 SL replaced the W113 Pagoda in 1971, remaining in production almost unchanged a full 18 years, with the final R107 rolling off the production line in 1989. For many SL enthusiasts, the most desirable cars date from the last three years of production. For the 1986 model year, Mercedes-Benz introduced a range of new engines. The 300SL replaced the 280SL, the 420SL replaced the 380SL and only the 500SL remained unchanged.  Along with the new engines, the 1986 cars received a revised interior, a range of new colours, wider wheels and improved handling and road holding - as well as the well known galvanised construction.  One of the colours added for 1986 was Diamond Blue Metallic, as featured on the car shown here. When combined with a beige interior, it makes for a striking and modern looking car that suits the shape of the R107 SL perfectly.   This car has been known to SL shop for some time, having been sold by us before. With low mileage, impeccable documentation (including every MOT certificate as detailed below) and some choice options, it is a rather superb offering.  On top of the standard factory specification, this car was equipped at the showroom with an outside temperature gauge, cruise control and rear seating. 

History File:

The mileage increments on the MOT history demonstrate a well loved, carefully used car that has been on the road consistently from 1986 until today. A lovely looking SL, awaiting a new custodian for the next phase of it’s adventure.
