Principal Facts:
1989 Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC
Smoke Silver Metallic (702U) with Beige Leather (265)
63,000 miles
The SEC was the flagship of the Mercedes-Benz range, topped by the 5.6 litre V8 powered 560 SEC. To put it simply, in 1989 this would have been the ultimate automotive status symbol.
This 560 SEC boasted a list price when new (with options) of £64,398. If we adjust that figure for inflation and translate it into ‘2019 Money’ we come out with a figure of £169,874. Not only was this car eye-wateringly expensive when new, it was also more expensive than a Ferrari Testarossa of the same year.
Being the flagship of the range meant there weren’t too many boxes to tick when ordering a 560 SEC from the showroom. This car has Acceleration Skid Control which would have added more than £5,000 to the list price in today’s money.
Coming from an astute collector, this car has covered just 63,000 careful miles and is presented in showroom condition throughout.
An opportunity for a new owner to acquire possibly the best 560 SEC currently available.
