1989 Mercedes-Benz R107 300SL

This 300SL was ordered from Carols of Wolverhampton by Mr B Nicholls in 1989. Mr Nicholls kept the car for 18 months before selling it back to Carols who then re-sold it to Stephen Evans in July 1990 with 16,000 miles recorded. In Mr Evans’s hands the car had only light use for the next 18 years, and when it entered the collection of Alan Humphrey in 2009 it had still only covered 32,809 miles. Some 5 years and 14 miles later this SL was acquired by John Potts of Richmond, Yorkshire, and two years after that, in 2016, it ventured north to Glasgow into the ownership of James Docherty with the mileage at 36,000.   Along the way the original maintenance record was mislaid by Mr Evans, but a replacement service book now with the car is evidence that it has enjoyed regular servicing since 2014. Indeed, for the last seven years we’ve looked after this lovely SL here at the SL Shop, so we know it well. In the accompanying, file apart from the MoT history and service invoices there’s a copy of a valuation report by a qualified Motor Engineer who praises this 300SL for its “originality, excellent condition and documented low mileage”.
