This is a vehicle we didn’t want to part with and nor did we expect to see it again. Nevertheless, when selling a classic Mercedes-Benz SL, there really isn’t any other destination…

This 500 SL made headlines several years ago, due to its restoration story which set a new precedent for the R107’s market value around the world. Since then, the model has ascended to new price points, with more and more enthusiasts desperate to acquire the best examples available.

Having won the Mercedes-Benz masterclass approximately five years ago, there needn’t be much more to say about this 500 SL. However, this is a 500 SL that would have cost an awful lot when new, given that the original owner ticked almost every optional extra at the time. The 500 SL is graced with a whole host of standard features, such as Cruise Control and a Limited Slip Differential, Heated Mirrors, Electric Windows and much more. But in addition to this, the original owner specified air conditioning, heated seats, rear seats, leather, an anti-theft and more!

The above reasons were partly why our Sales Director selected this as the perfect vehicle to take to unrivalled restoration heights. That coupled with the exterior finish of Nautic Blue (929) and interior colourway of Beige (275). Nautic Blue is the perfect shade of blue as it springs to life when in contact with the sun, emulating the tones of the open water, while in some lighting, it can appear darker and more subtle. This split personality makes Nautic Blue the perfect all year around colourway.

Having been painstakingly retrimmed, the cabin is a delightful place to sit. The seats are firm but with the normal moulding character of Mercedes-Benz luxury, and there is still the fresh ‘new car’ smell emitted by the upholstery. As you can expect, all the interior wood trim is straight and strong in colour, while the chrome is in as-new condition. The sills and door cards are bereft of any marks from shoes entering and exiting the interior.

Beneath the bonnet the V8 has been rebuilt from the ground up with genuine factory correct replacement parts used all round. As you can see from the images, the raucous V8 is in beautiful condition, ready to be displayed to enthusiasts at events. The soundtrack is brought to you by an uprated exhaust offering a raucous tone when accelerating quickly, while retaining a more subdued and relaxed grunt when cruising.
