2001 Mercedes-Benz R129 320SL Edition

Initially launched with engines based on those of the earlier R107 series, later versions of the R129 320SL, like this one, got an upgrade from the old inline six to the newly developed 3.2litre V6 with 224 bhp, giving better performance with a much sportier feel. The SL Designo was exclusive to the UK and was available in three versions, Alanite Green, Almandine Black and Mystic Blue. Only 50 examples of each colour were produced, so this is a very rare and collectable SL. Aside from the very special paint the Designo received a machined aluminium fascia, 18-inch split-rim alloys, Nappa leather seats and burr walnut trim. The extremely low mileage example we’re offering was first registered in January 2001 and has a virtually continuous MoT history punctuated only by short periods when the car was in storage between 2012-16 and 2019-23.  The handbooks have unfortunately been mislaid but invoices on file show the last service was done by Mercedes-Benz of Chelmsford in January 2024 at 28,823 miles. These last-of-the-line R129s are very much sought after, even more so with such a low mileage.
