1989 Mercedes-Benz R107 500SL with Beige Leather (275)

A low mileage 5.0 litre late model R107 in a beautiful specification with some interesting history… A very desirable car indeed.

Built in late 1988 and registered in 1989, this immaculate 500SL was ordered in the striking combination of Diamond Blue Metallic with Beige Leather. Although we have seen many cars in Diamond Blue, it’s rare to find one with the 5.0 litre V8 engine and beige interior. What we have here is a low mileage, late V8 car in a wonderful colour-putting it amongst the most desirable examples of the R107. The 500SL came with cruise control as standard (a cost option on the 300SL), but this car has both air conditioning and the orthopaedic front seat backrest-another option that we rarely see on showroom cars, even with the calibre of vehicles that come through SLSHOP. Outside the paintwork presents superbly, and inside the theme is the same-this is a very fine car indeed. With that V8 burble, the comfortable seating and the cruise control set to a steady 70mph,this would be a fantastic car to point to the horizon.

The history file is comprehensive, and it is clear from the documentation that this car has been maintained regardless of cost. No less than 28 service stamps span the 25,000 mile window in the service book, all at the same Mercedes-Benz main dealer. It is worth noting that the service book is a duplicate, with a signed note in the front pertaining to the superb maintenance that the car has always enjoyed.   It’s hard to understate the history file of this car, especially when we have 28 stamps from Greenoaks Mercedes-Benz covering the mileage between 24,793 and 51,115. It’s not often that we would use the term ‘over serviced’ but this car was clearly owned by a very fastidious steward and the service book demonstrates that.
